Time is Running Out to Volunteer!

KCRAR is looking for individuals who have the time, talent and commitment to devote to program development and special projects by volunteering for one of our many committees and advisory groups.

Getting involved with our committees will give you an opportunity to interface with real estate professionals from across the 13-county metro area.

If you’re interested in becoming a committee or advisory group member, then please complete the online Volunteer Request Form. All forms for 2017 appointments will need to be received by November 1, so there’s only a couple of weeks left to go! Any requests received after November 1 will be kept on file for future opportunities.

Call to Action: Vote Yes on Missouri Amendment 4

With a scant few weeks left before Election Day in November, Missouri Amendment 4, which previously had been going along seemingly without any opposition, has since received just that from not one but two public organizations.

Amendment 4 is a proposition to amend the Missouri Constitution to preemptively ban sales tax on services, up to and including the services provided by real estate professionals. This measure has had substantial support from the Missouri Association of REALTORS®, and KCRAR has been vocal in its support as well. However, the Missouri Municipal League has recently banded together with the Missouri Budget Project to voice a dissenting opinion. This opinion claims the amendment will “lead to the elimination or reduction of vital local services,” and is “focusing on a problem that doesn’t exist.”

The passage of Amendment 4 is extremely important for anyone working in the service industry, REALTORS® not the least, as, without this amendment, it’s possible that sales tax will be charged to your sellers when they pay a real estate commission in the future. This new opposition could pose a hindrance to its passing, so it’s key that KCRAR members motivate to vote yes.

All Missouri residents should vote yes on Missouri Amendment 4, and encourage friends, neighbors and colleagues to do the same.
